Most plants make their best show in one of the four seasons. It may be spring flowers or fall color but there should be at least one time of the year when your landscape plants shine.

Some species of plants such as forsythia, deutzia, spirea and lilac are only of special interest during the 2-week period that they are in bloom. The rest of the year, they are just plain green plants. Not bad but nothing to write home about.

On the other hand, there are many landscape plants that will give you rewards for two or more seasons. This adds greatly to their value and should be sought out whenever possible.

Multi-season landscape plants will have two or more of the following characteristics:

1. Flowers
2. Attractive or Unusual Fruit
3. Summer Foliage
4. Autumn Color
5. General Form
6. Winter Twigs or Bark
7. Winter Impact
